No. Because we are exclusively foster-based (we don't have a shelter building), only approved applicants are offered an opportunity to meet the animals for which they are approved!

We are not first-come first-serve; all pets are matched to the best fit home for them and each family is matched to the pet that best suits their lifestyle. 

So many of our animals arrive here in rescue because the family or person that originally owned them was simply not the best fit for them or was ill-equipped to handle their needs. Everyone makes mistakes and it's not always clear what a pet will need long term during puppy- or kitten-hood! We recognize that we can reduce the risk of rehoming an animal repeatedly by making the best match for each animal based on their unique needs and personalities. 

When applying to adopt from TFF, applicants are asked if they are willing to hear about other matches if the animal they applied for is either already adopted or not a good fit. We ask this because, simply put, we know our animals and their needs and those things take priority over preferences based on color, breed, age, coat length and type (assuming allergies are not an issue), and sex (assuming another pet in the home does not experience same-sex aggression). For this reason, we align our standards with those of ethical breeders -- you can learn more about the process of puppy matching here! 

We love working with applicants to find the right fit for them to ensure a life-long match! 

Unfortunately we simply cannot get back to every person that applies. We are completely volunteer-run and all of us have at least one other job, are in school, have our own pets, or have children! We are doing our best to keep up with all questions not related to application status, but we are human and do miss things!

Yes! We encourage potential adopters to be proactive. Give us as much detail about your lifestyle and desires for your future pet -- we'll let you know if a great match comes along!
